Logo

This section evaluates the way the logo was utilized in the header area of the website.

  • Logo background should match the rest of the header/footer
    • If file size allows, logo background should be removed
    • If file size is too small to remove background, header/footer background should match the logo background color

Example:

  • Instead, try this:
    • Hex codes #FFFFFF and ##1E275E pass
  • If the logo elements are not fitting well within the header, they should be reformatted to fit cohesively.
  • Example: In this instance, the business contact information could have been cropped to allow for the logo to display larger in the header. Due to the scripted style of the logo, bigger size allows for better visibility.
  • The logo tagline, domain name, or other unnecessary text should be cropped from the logo
    • This is especially true when the text is unreadable or causes unnecessary clutter in the header
  • If the logo tagline is removed, it should be placed elsewhere on the site (i.e. the hero image)

Example: The tagline in the logo could have been cropped and used as the hero tagline/heading text.

Instead, do this:

  • Logo is pixelated or blurry.

  • Logo is too big in relation to surrounding design elements.
  • Logo is too small in relation to surrounding design elements.
  • Just right
  • Logo TEXT is too BIG in relation to surrounding design elements.
  • Logo TEXT is too SMALL in relation to surrounding design elements.
  • Logo TEXT is properly sized in relation to surrounding design elements.
  • There is NOT ENOUGH negative space around the logo.
  • There is TOO MUCH negative space around the logo.
  • Just Right
  • Logo can stand alone without text additions for context.
  • Logo text too small or unreadable.
  • Logo can NOT stand alone without text additions for context.
