Content – Layout

  • Overuse of row/heading/paragraph separators
  • Row/heading/paragraph separators were not used and should have been.
  • Content additions cover up focal points of the image.

Example: In this instance, multiple sections of text were added over a background image

Not providing the proper space within a container or surrounding a container can create visual tension and make elements difficult to read.

  • There should be a minimum of 7-10% margin around an element or padding within an element.

Incorrect: In this example the text is too close to the borders of the container, and the containers themselves are too close together. The padding within the containers and the margin surrounding the containers should be increased to meet the minimum of 7-10% margin/padding.

Correct: In this example the padding and margins have been corrected to allow for more space.

  • Content is aligned inconsistently among columns.
    • For example, one column is left aligned, and the others are center aligned, 
  • Design elements are not aligned to one another. 

Example: In this instance, the two columns are not distributed evenly within the row.

  • Content overlaps in a way that covers up key information or focal point of image rather than as a stylistic choice.

Example: In this example, the images were stacked and slightly overlapping where they did not need to be
