Use Of Stock Images And Icons For Logos And Branding

We are unable to accommodate any request to use stock images and icons for use in a customer’s business name, logo or branding.

If a customer has requested a text treatment and icon for their business name, here is what they should know:

  • This request is out of scope and cannot be completed. If a customer has asked to use a stock image or icon as their logo, please let them know that for their sake we will not complete this request but that we can help them to get a new logo through our logo services.
  • Using a stock image in part or whole in a logo violates most content usage agreements and can result in hefty fines. Royalty-free image and icon sharing sites prohibit users from using whole or partial images in logos in their standard user agreement and even in their more premium, extended licenses.
  • Aside from a violation of use this is also a poor practice as your logo and branding should be a unique representation of your brand identity.

Stock images and icons cannot

Incorporate Images on letterhead and business cards, pamphlets, brochures, and catalogs provided that Images are not used as a logo or trademark

Use any Content (in whole or in part) as a trademark, service mark, logo, or other indication of origin, or as part thereof, or to otherwise endorse or imply the endorsement of any goods and/or services
