Proper process for .php upgrades

  1. Always make a backup before beginning work.
  2. If the customer is a DIY site build requesting PHP update, proceed with caution.
  3. Update files, themes, and plugins before updating PHP.
  4. If it’s a premium theme or plugin, get license key or zip file from customer to make necessary updates.
  5. If you notice incompatibilities upon trying to update files, themes, and plugins: Halt work, explain risk via clarification to Website Specialist, and recommend another solution (ie. DIFY site rebuild).
  6. If everything updates appropriately: Proceed forward with PHP update.
  7. Update PHP.
