- Always make a backup before beginning work.
- If the customer is a DIY site build requesting PHP update, proceed with caution.
- Update files, themes, and plugins before updating PHP.
- If it’s a premium theme or plugin, get license key or zip file from customer to make necessary updates.
- If you notice incompatibilities upon trying to update files, themes, and plugins: Halt work, explain risk via clarification to Website Specialist, and recommend another solution (ie. DIFY site rebuild).
- If everything updates appropriately: Proceed forward with PHP update.
- Update PHP.
