1.1. Testing on mobile devices
When testing on a mobile device, you are presented with a display of an actual device and a selected browser running on it. On the right-side menu, there are the following options you can find useful in testing websites:
- DevTools – this will open the Chrome DevTools console and make JS/CSS debugging much easier, as there is no need to plug the device into the PC’s USB port to debug a mobile website on an actual device.
- Rotate device – vertical or horizontal orientation of the device (landscape/portrait)
- Change location – you can choose a different testing location – website will appear as you visit it from another country or region, function like VPN.
- Throttle Network – it is possible to make the website loading slower, the same as when you are on a slow internet connection
- Screenshot – with this tool, it is possible to take screenshots of the device’s screen
1.2. Testing on a desktop browser
As on mobile devices, options available for desktop browsers are similar, but there is a new one – it is possible to change the device’s resolution to a desired one.
1.3. Browser extension
There is a Chrome browser extension available that makes selecting a browser and starting a test available on any currently opened website.
1.4. Possible issues
- Some security plugins or firewalls could block BrowserStack, and you may not be able to view the website
- Some malware may perform redirections to unwanted websites when visited from specific devices or browsers
2. Asset CleanUp Pro
Asset CleanUp is a website optimization plugin that excludes scripts and other resources from specific pages. Asset CleanUp works with caching plugins – it excludes resources before caching plugin occurs.
Pro version allows excluding resources from more types of pages like taxonomy, search, author pages, defer/async of JS files, unload hardcoded CSS/JS.
2.1. Possible issues
- When the plugin is deactivated, all modifications are disabled as well. However, some of them may be preserved in the cache: server, CDN, or firewall cache.
2.2. License info
To activate the pro version, you need to download Asset Cleanup Pro from this link: wp-asset-clean-up-pro-v1.2.4.1.zip
If the version uploaded here is outdated, install it and activate the license, then you can update the plugin to the latest version.
After that, on the plugins page, click Activate License:
And enter this license key.

4. WP Rocket
WP Rocket is the best plugin for Website Optimization (it stands out among many others) and as such – it will be of tremendous help in our everyday work.
4.1. Possible issues
If it’s not configured properly (or if there is some conflict), it can cause some things on the sites to not work, things as tabs, dropdowns, galleries, sliders, etc. Please make sure to test the site (not only the front page) to see if everything is okay, if there is a conflict it can be resolved by excluding problematic scripts.
4.2. License info
Our version of WP Rocket does not require a license to be entered, it’s enough that you upload the installation file and activate the plugin.
WP Rocket can be downloaded from the Vendor Package Builder.
When you install the WP Rocket, please make sure to update it to the latest version. In some cases, you won’t see the update notification for WP Rocket in your admin panel at all. Luckily, there is a way to force the update notification of WP Rocket.
Visit the Plugins page in WordPress, and add the following query string to the end of the URL:
?rocket_force_update=1
So it looks like this, with example.com
representing your domain here:
https://example.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?rocket_force_update=1
Scrolling down to the WP Rocket plugin entry, you should see an update notification now.
5. Smush PRO
This is one of the best plugins for image optimization, we acquired an agency license, and now we can use this plugin in our everyday work. Complete documentation about the Smush Pro plugin can be found here.
5.1. Possible issues
It can come into conflict with some plugins/themes, and it can cause some images to not display properly, mostly images on sliders, galleries, and thumbnails. Please make sure to check the site to make sure that optimization did not cause some issues. The lazy load images option in the plugin also can cause issues in some cases – please use it with caution. Another thing to mention is with Smush CDN, there is limited bandwidth, please don’t use the Smush CDN option.
5.2. License info
To use the plugin license is not required, all you need to do is log in to Login | WPMU DEV – after logging in, you need to switch your account to “WordPress Premium Services” and click on the “Connect new site” button.
Beware: When you connect a site, it will offer you to install many WPMU Dev plugins (not just Smush PRO), plugins such as Humminbird, Defender, Forminator, etc. Please make sure to select only the Smush PRO plugin. Also, if you forget to switch your account to “WordPress Premium Services” – you won’t be able to add Smush PRO, it will only allow you to install a free version of the plugin, which is why switching accounts is important.
There are two ways to connect a site, automatically and manually, if automatically won’t work for some reason (Firewall for example), the best way is to use the manual way. Here are the steps to follow in the process:
Step 1: Click to manually install the WPMU Dev plugin.
Step 2: Download the WPMU Dev plugin, upload it to the site, and activate it.
Step 3: When the WPMU Dev plugin is activated, it will ask you to connect a site, and enter your account credentials.
Step 4: When the site is connected to the Hub, click on “Install Plugins”, you will get a list of all WPMU Dev plugins, select Smush Pro from the list, and install and activate.
